School Review Rubric

School teams will review data, observe classrooms and perform stakeholder focus groups to determine progress.  To do so, these teams will use the School Review Rubric to examine practice.  The rubric has three categories:

Consider using the videos (on the left) to practice with the rubric and norm with your team:

  1. Imagine you are about to visit these two classrooms represented in the video.  The pre-review reflection noted that the school has a significant EL population, and that they have focused on EL strategies and discussion techniques.
  2. Watch both videos.
  3. Independently, look at the first four rows of school review rubric.  How would you rate this school in each of those areas?  What is your evidence?
  4. Now debrief your findings in a group, and come to consensus.  How would you rate this school? What would you commend, what would you recommend?

The School Review Rubric for Observers is aligned with the Teaching and Learning Framework

The more the participants on the Review Team use the School Review Rubric, the easier and more relevant it will become.
